How do I get a T-Mobile 5G gateway 0 Recommended Answers 2 Replies 0 Upvotes

I am considering using Google Fi with 5G support.  I live in a rural area.  While there is 5G service, the speed is marginal due to the distance.  I would like to enhance the signal for better performance.  As 5G is provided through T-Mobile, I went to their website and see they provide a Nokia Fastmile gateway for signal enhancement.  But they do not sell it; it is part of a plan.

How might I obtain a  device to enhance my signal that I can be assured will work with the T-Mobile service?

Hello and welcome,

That is for internet service and not signal enhancement.  It is also not offered by Fi so isn't something we will be much help with in this community.

Jason,

Thank your for your response.  Check out the website where Nokia has designed this for signal enhancement.  https://www.nokia.com/fastmile

T-Mobile markets their Internet plan with this as a supporting device.  Nokia reports this device can improve communication performance where the user may be at marginal distances.

While Google does not offer this device, I was looking for community experience with such devices.  I am not necessarily looking for a device from Google, but the vast experience of this community may have had similar circumstances to mine.

There are many devices on the market to enhance signals.  Since Fi uses T-Mobile, it would be great to hear from users that may have found solutions that work or don't work with the T-Mobile 5G network.  There are 5G modems, gateways and a verity of antennae that might work.  I wonder if many in the community have approached this issue.  As 5G has a limited range, and new antenna towers are not being produced as fast as 5G antennae added to existing towers, 5G access will need such devices to reach all those that would like to realize the promised enhanced services.

I am looking forward to any help towards finding what works and what doesn't.
