Switch billing plans

At any time after activation, you can request to switch your Google Fi plan with the Google Fi mobile app Fi or at fi.google.com.

How to switch your plan

Important: The switch from Simply Unlimited to Unlimited Plus happens immediately. All other changes to your Fi billing plan take effect at the start of your next billing cycle.
  1. Sign in to your account on the Google Fi app Fi or at fi.google.com.
  2. Select Manage plan.
  3. Under "Actions," select Switch plan.
  4. Follow the instructions.

You can change your plan as many times as you want. If you don’t switch from Simply Unlimited to Unlimited Plus, the change doesn’t happen until your next bill. You can’t change your plan before your next bill.

After you change plans, you and any group members get a notification at the top of your account. The notification says when the new plan starts.

If you change from Unlimited Plus to Flexible or Simply Unlimited, after 7 days, you can lose your Google One benefits.

  • To keep your Google One benefits:
    1. Set up payment for Google One.
    2. After you switch your Google Fi plan, in the pop-up notification, click the link.

Cancel a scheduled switch

Important: You can schedule a plan switch for the start of your next billing cycle. If you do so, you can cancel the switch and stay on your current plan type any time before the start of your next billing cycle.

  1. Sign in to your account on the Google Fi app Fi or at fi.google.com.
  2. Select Manage plan.
  3. At the top of the "Account" section, find a notification of your scheduled plan switch.
  4. Select Cancel switch.

How group plans compare to individual plans

Group plans are different from individual plans in that:

  • Only the group plan owner can switch plan types.
  • All members of a group plan are on the same billing plan.
  • If the group owner switches billing plans, everyone in the group switches over to the new plan.

Understand & manage bill changes

If you change from Flexible to Simply Unlimited or Unlimited Plus, your first bill can be more than usual.

Your bill includes:

  • Prepaid owner and members pay for the next month of Unlimited Plus plan charge.
  • A $10 USD per GB charge for postpaid owner and members who used data in the last bill cycle.
  • Post pay for extra services you used in the last bill. Extra services can include:
    • International calls.
    • Get your data back to full speed.
    • Prorated costs for new members.

For example:

You just switched from the Flexible plan to an individual Simply Unlimited plan. In your last month, you used $20 USD of data on your Flexible plan. Your next bill includes:

  • $20 USD for data on your Flexible plan, which you postpay.
  • $50 USD for your Simply Unlimited plan, which you prepay.

To find your current billing cycle:

  1. Sign in to your account on the Google Fi app Fi or at fi.google.com.
  2. At the top of your screen, find the notification "Your current cycle ends in X days."
