Switch billing plans

At any time after activation, you can request to switch your Google Fi plan with the Google Fi mobile app Fi or at fi.google.com.

How to switch your plan

Important: The switch from Simply Unlimited to Unlimited Plus happens immediately. All other changes to your Fi billing plan take effect at the start of your next billing cycle.
  1. Sign in to your account on the Google Fi app Fi or at fi.google.com.
  2. Select Manage plan.
  3. Under "Actions," select Switch plan.
  4. Follow the instructions.

Cancel a scheduled switch

Important: You can schedule a plan switch for the start of your next billing cycle. If you do so, you can cancel the switch and stay on your current plan type any time before the start of your next billing cycle.

  1. Sign in to your account on the Google Fi app Fi or at fi.google.com.
  2. Select Manage plan.
  3. At the top of the "Account" section, find a notification of your scheduled plan switch.
  4. Select Cancel switch.

How group plans compare to individual plans

Group plans are different from individual plans in that:

  • Only the group plan owner can switch plan types.
  • All members of a group plan are on the same billing plan.
  • If the group owner switches billing plans, everyone in the group switches over to the new plan.

Frequently asked questions

What happens after you switch plans
At the top of your account, you and any group members receive a notification of the elected switch and the new plan’s start date.
Your first bill may be higher after you switch

When you switch from the Flexible plan to the Simply Unlimited or Unlimited Plus plan, your first bill may be higher than you're used to.

Your bill includes:

  • Prepaying owner and members’ unlimited plan monthly charge for the next bill cycle.
  • Postpaying owner and members’ data use from the Flexible plan, at $10 per GB from the previous bill cycle per month.
  • Postpaying any extra services you used in the previous bill cycle. Possible extra services include international calls, return to full speed data, and prorated costs for new members.

For example:

You just switched from the Flexible plan to an individual Simply Unlimited plan. In your last month, you used $20 of data on your Flexible plan. Your next bill includes:

  • $20 for data on your Flexible plan that you postpay.
  • $50 for your Simply Unlimited plan, which you prepay.
How often can you switch plans
You can request a change in your billing plan as many times as you want.  Unless you switch from Simply Unlimited to Unlimited Plus, the change doesn't take effect until the start of your next billing cycle. You can’t schedule to switch your plan further in advance than the start of your next billing cycle.
Find your current billing cycle
  1. Sign in to your account on the Google Fi app Fi or at fi.google.com.
  2. At the top of your screen, find the notification "Your current cycle ends in X days."
Changes on Google One after plan switch
When you switch from an Unlimited Plus plan to a Flexible or Simply Unlimited plan, you’ll lose access to your Google One benefits after 7 days. To keep your Google One membership benefits, set up payment for Google One. After you switch your Google Fi plan, select the link in the pop-up notification.
Switch billing plans on Pixel Pass
You can switch between billing plans when you subscribe to Pixel Pass. Your first bill may be higher than you're used to since it may include prepaid and postpaid charges. You can also schedule a plan switch to simplify billing.
