Pause your data

You can pause Google Fi data to manage your usage.

Important: Settings and features may vary by device.

  1. Open the Google Fi app Fi.

  2. If you’re the group plan owner or manager, tap the member whose data service you want to pause.
    • If you’re not the group plan owner or manager, you can skip this step.
  3. Scroll to “Actions.”
  4. Tap Pause data.
  5. Choose how long you want to pause the data service.
    • With either option, you can resume data service at any time.
      • Billing cycle pause: If you choose to pause data service until the end of the billing cycle, data resumes automatically when the next billing cycle starts.
      • Indefinite pause: If you pause indefinitely, data stays paused until you resume it.
  6. Tap Pause.
  7. To resume data service at any time, tap Resume data.

Tips:

  • A notification appears at the top of the screen that “data is paused.”
  • If you’re a member and not the owner, when your cellular data service is paused or resumed, you get an email and a notification.
  • When you pause data, it takes up to 10 minutes and impacts Google Fi data service only.
  • While data service is paused, members can only data services and receive MMS messages when connected to WiFi. This includes group messages.
