About Galaxy Watch for Kids
Galaxy Watch for Kids is a WearOS experience tailored for children. You can customize settings for your child’s Galaxy Watch, and help your child have safer, age-appropriate experiences.
What you need
To set up your Galaxy Watch for Kids, you need:
- Samsung Galaxy Watch 7
- A Samsung Galaxy phone and Galaxy Wearable app
- A Samsung account
- A Samsung account for your child
- A Google Account
- A Google Account for your child
Tips:
- Make sure your Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 is running on the latest watch software.
- If your child’s account isn’t created yet, you can create it during the setup.
How to set up Galaxy Watch for Kids
You need to create a Samsung account for yourself and your child. Learn how to create a Samsung account.
Set up Galaxy Watch for Kids- On your Samsung Galaxy phone, open the Galaxy Wearable app.
- On the “Galaxy Wearable” screen, tap Next.
- Select your child’s Samsung watch.
- If you can’t find your device, tap Scan again.
- Check the number on your watch.
- Tap Confirm.
- Your child’s watch might take a few minutes to get ready.
- To set up your child’s watch, tap Start setup for your child

- Select your Google Account.
- Tap your child’s account.
- If your child’s account isn’t created yet:
- Tap Create account for child

- Follow the on-screen instructions.

- If your child’s account isn’t created yet:
- When you find “You’re all set!” message, you’re done with the set up.

Tip: If your child’s watch has connectivity, changes take effect immediately.
Learn how to approve app download requests
- On your device, open Family Link
.
- If you haven’t created a Family Link account yet, get started with Family Link.
- Select your child.
- At the bottom center, tap Controls
.
- To temporarily change School time, tap Change for today.
- To turn off School time for today: Turn off Starts and Ends.
- To change the School time hours for today:
- Turn on Starts and Ends.
- Select the new hours.
- Tap Done.
- To make changes to the weekly schedule, tap Edit weekly schedule.
- To turn the weekly schedule on or off, move the slider.
- Or, set a new weekly schedule.
- Tap Save.
- To turn the weekly schedule on or off, move the slider.
- To temporarily change School time, tap Change for today.
You can approve which apps your child has on their watch. When your child wants to add an app to their watch, they can request it from you.
- On your child’s watch, they select an app they want.
- They receive a notification to ask a parent, tap Send request

- On your device, you receive a notification. When you open the notification, you receive information about the app such as cost. Tap either:
- Review: To review more information about the app and approve or deny the app download.
- Deny: To block your child from downloading the app on their watch.
Tips:
- Your child receives a notification of your decision on their watch.
- You can also manage app download requests through your Play Store settings:
- Tap Play Store

- Not all apps are available to find and download on a kids watch. App selection may be limited based on standalone capability for app to work without requiring connectivity to a phone or age appropriateness if you decide to limit app access through Family Link.
Your child can check from their Galaxy Watch the parental control settings.
- On your Galaxy Watch for Kids, open Settings

- Tap Google
Parental controls.
- Your child can review:
- School time: The schedule for today, parent can change settings for school time, and allowed apps during school time.
- Blocked apps: List of blocked apps.
- Call & text: Parent managed contacts and if they are blocked from specific contacts.
- Your child can always call emergency services.
- Your child can text or call their emergency contacts if they are added as approved contacts.
- Location: Parent can monitor your watch’s location.
- Other settings: You can find supervision details like:
- Content restrictions for Google products
- Account settings
- Device information
