What happened to my Keep shopping list?

Starting on April 10, 2017, adding an item to your shopping list with Google Home, the Google Assistant or Express will save to a primary shopping list. This way you can quickly shop for things you’ve saved, if you’d like.

Note: Making your shopping list accessible through Google Home, Google Express and Google Assistant means the Assistant will no longer save your items to a separate list in Google Keep. You can of course continue to use Google Keep for your other lists and notes.

  • Say “add crackers to my list” or “add soap to my shopping list”
  • Tap the shopping list icon in your Express or Google Home app, or Google Assistant, to access your shopping list and see what you’ve added. If you're accessing your list in your Express app, make sure it's up to date.
    • Here you can also shop your list, check things off or delete things you no longer want to order. Find out more about shopping lists.
    • You don't need to have the Express app installed to use shopping lists

Heads up: If you've created a shopping list on Keep with G Suite, you'll also see the new shopping list, but the items you've saved or the people you've shared it with won't automatically switch to the new list.

Moving things from Keep to the new shopping list

You’ll notice that items you saved to your list in Google Keep with Google Home will show up on your new shopping list.

Your shopping list will automatically be shared with anyone you shared your Keep list with. They can access their lists from the Google Home or Express app, or through the Assistant on Android.

You can still maintain a separate list in Google Keep while running errands. Your Google Keep list simply won’t be linked to your Google Home, Assistant, or Express.
