I have an Expeditions Kit from Best Buy and cannot sign in with my G-Suite logins. Who can help? 2 Recommended Answers 7 Replies 0 Upvotes

We have the no-brand Magellan Android 7 phones that come as standard in the Expeditions EDU kits from Best Buy. We have G-Suite EDU which uses password authentication through ADFS linked to Microsoft account. When we enter an email address, it redirects to a Microsoft login page, where I can re-enter my email, but then, after clicking next, I see a white screen. I have reproduced this multiple times on multiple devices using different accounts. It's either a phone issue or an Android issue, but we cannot use our EDU Google logins to use EDU Expeditions devices.

Ty - thanks for your response. This is a very specific question. Best Buy charge for their services (as part of the Expeditions bundle), and image their devices with no Google account and do not support issues with why you cannot sign in with G-Suite accounts. Google also does not have any support - I have been through a lot of avenues and the only response is to post here as Google employed experts often reply to these posts. 
This is most likely an engineering question specific to Android or the Magellan phone.

I have had to work around this problem by creating person accounts and linking them to my personal cell phone. This is not a good strategy for an educational institution with an education G-Suite account. I am looking for a Google representative to say "that's not how it's meant to work, let me look into it". Why can I not sign into Google devices with my EDU Google accounts?

Every response so far has been links to generic instructions, but this is an engineering or software question which is not actually linked to Expeditions. The reason why I am focused on Expeditions is that Google specifically chose this phone manufacturer (Magellan) and this retailer (Best Buy) and own the Android OS, and it is not working for us. Unlike Apple or Microsoft who have stores and education reps you can meet face to face or talk to on the phone, Google has not been able to offer this so far. So basically, I am asking Google - are you willing to pick up your game and help out our school?

Why has an unhelpful answer been recommended at as an answer? This request may be unsolvable, but there should be something that says "not solved" rather than a Google Employee (Lena Feliciano Hansen) recommending this as an answer - why was this done? Is there a negative result of having unanswered questions?

Hi Doug. Is your problem specific to the Google Expeditions app? Are you able to sign in on other Google apps (e.g. Drive, Maps etc.)?

Another thing to think about is, are you planning to use Tour Creator and view the tours on the headsets? If not, there is no benefit to signing in individually to the phones, you could use a generic Gmail account for all headsets. 

If you only want to use Expeditions in Guide/Follower mode (i.e. not self-guided) then there is no need to sign into Expeditions on the phones at all.

The issue is specific to the Google Expeditions Magellan phones that come as standard in the current kits. I can sign in through browsers (including on the same phones), but I have not tried other Android devices, so there's a chance that it is also related to Android 7.

I'm sorry that you are experiencing issues accessing your GSuite account with your devices, I understand that this is frustrating. I'm sorry that we are unable to troubleshoot this with you as it is not an issue with Expeditions.
