Create a tour

Use Google Tour Creator to create and publish VR tours. You can use Google Street View panoramas, add your own images from 360-degree cameras, and annotate the tour with details to create immersive experiences. Sign in to Tour Creator with you Google Account.

You can also create a tour using templates with photospheres, overlays, and text, all of which you can edit or customize as you like.

Before you begin

  • You must sign in to Tour Creator with your Google Account.
  • Tour Creator works with Chrome Browser, Firefox®, and Safari®.
  • You don't need to save files. Your tours autosave to Tour Creator as you work.
  • Only use images and content you own, or that are in the public domain, or that you’re otherwise entitled to use.

Add these to your tour

You can create a tour using different elements such as:

  • Overlays—You can add overlays on a scene to provide information or highlight elements of your tour. The overlay can comprise text, another image, color, or special effects.
  • Photos—You can also use 360-degree photos. Watch a video about creating 360-degree photos .
  • Sound—Audio can be ambient sound—site-specific background noise, creating context and atmosphere for a location. Narration is spoken information describing the scene and particular points of interest in the scene.
Requirements

You can impose overlays on an image or Street View panorama to add information or highlight elements of your tour. The overlay can comprise text, another image, color, or special effects.

Overlay Images

  1. Any image you impose over the main image must be a minimum of 320x320 pixels, maximum 1200x1200 pixels.
  2. Use only JPEG or PNG files.

360-degree photos

  1. Aspect ratios must be 2:1.
  2. Dimensions should not exceed 4096x2048 pixels.
  3. Use only JPEG or PNG files.
  4. File size shouldn't exceed 2 MB.
  5. Omnistereo images (panoramic stereo images) are also supported with a 1:1 aspect ratio and can't exceed 4096x4096 pixels.

If you're not sure whether your camera produces these specs, check your operating system:

  • Apple® MAC®
    1. Open image in Preview.
    2. Select Tools
    3. Select Adjust Size.
  • Chrome

    For steps, see Open and edit photos.

  • Windows®
    1. Locate and right-click the image.
    2. Select Properties and click either Details or Summary.

Create your first tour

Step 1: Sign in and get started
  1. Sign in to Tour Creator.
  2. Click + New tour.
  3. Enter a title.
  4. (Optional) Enter a description.
  5. (Optional) Click Categories and select a category.

    Categories help others find your tours on Poly.

  6. To add a cover photo, choose an option:
    • Drag an image into the Cover photo section.
    • Click Select an image, choose an image, and click Open.

      Photos must be at least 1440x720 pixels.

  7. Click Create.
Step 2: Add a scene
  1. Click Add scene.
  2. Choose an option to add an image:
    • To add a Google Street View panorama, click Google Maps, type an address.
    • To upload an image, click Upload and drag the image into the screen or select one from your computer.
  3. Click Add scene to add your panorama or image to your tour.
  4. Add a title.
  5. (Optional) Add a description or credits.
  6. (Optional) To add ambient audio or narration, click Add audio Add audio or Add narration Add narration and choose an option:
    • Drag an audio file into the screen and click Add.
    • Click Select an audio file, click a file, click Open and then Add.

      Note: Use only MP3 files. Audio clips must be 10-30 seconds.

  7. (Optional) To add further scenes, click Add scene and follow the steps above.
  8. (Optional) To view a scene, at the bottom, click the scene.
  9. To reorder your scenes, at the bottom, click the scene, click More More and then Move right or Move left.
  10. To delete a scene, click the scene, then click Trash Trash and then Delete scene.
Step 3: Add a point of interest to a scene
  1. (Optional) To add a point of interest, click + Add point of interest.
  2. Use your mouse or pad to position the Point of interest Point of interest in the scene.
  3. Enter a title or description.
  4. (Optional) To add an image, click Choose image Choose image and choose an option:
    • Drag an image into the screen and click Add.
    • Click Select an image, choose an image, and click Open and then Add.
  5. (Optional) To reorder your points of interest, click one, click More More and then Move up or Move down.
  6. (Optional) To add narration, click a point of interest, click Add narration Add narration, and choose an option:
    • Drag an audio file into the screen and click Add.
    • Click Select an audio file, click a file, and click Open and then Add.

      Note: Use only MP3 files. Audio clips must be 10-30 seconds.

  7. (Optional) To delete a point of interest, click it, click More More and then Delete point of interest.

Create a tour with a template

Use a template

You can copy and customize templates to create tours.

  1. Sign in to Tour Creator.
  2. Click Templates.
  3. Scroll through the templates and click a tour.

    The copy of the tour opens in your browser.

  4. To customize the tour, edit any of the content—scenes, photospheres, overlays, points of interest, and text.

    Your tours autosave to Tour Creator as you work.
