Updates to Expeditions and Tour Creator

Google will migrate many of the Expeditions VR tours to Google Arts & Culture’s free site and application so they're available to everyone. As Arts & Culture expands, the Google Expeditions app will no longer be available for download and Tour Creator won't be accessible on June 30, 2021.

Export & download assets from published tours

Important: On June 30, 2021, Tour Creator will no longer be accessible. Before that date, make sure to download assets from your published tours.

To export assets from your published tours, follow the steps in How to download your Google data.

Tip: Your downloaded .zip file includes:

  • Image files, including panorama photos
  • Sound files
  • JSON files with scene descriptions, text references, and StreetView panorama references

What’s different?

After June 30, 2021, you won’t be able to:

  • Download and use the Google Expeditions app.
  • Access Tour Creator.
  • Create new tours or download any of your published tours.
  • You can download the Google Arts & Culture app with your school hardware or personal mobile device to view a tour. You won't have access to guided tours through Expeditions, but you can participate in single player tours.

Any tours you publish, either unlisted or public, will be available at Tour Creator until June 30, 2021. You can export your published tours up until June 30, 2021.We'll give you instructions on how to export assets from published tours in the coming months.

The Expeditions app is available until June 30, 2021.

Can I use Expeditions and Tour Creator until June 30, 2021?

Yes, you can use the Expeditions app and Tour Creator until June 30, 2021. After this date, you can't:

  • Download and use the Google Expeditions app.
  • Access Tour Creator.
  • Create new tours or download any of your published tours.
If I downloaded the app before June 30, will it still work?

No, the Expeditions app will no longer work after June 30, 2021. You can download the Google Arts & Culture app with your school hardware or personal mobile device to view a tour. You won’t have access to guided tours through Expeditions but you can participate in single player tours.

How can I access tours on Google Arts & Culture?

After June 30, 2021, on your web browser, you can view Expeditions at g.co/arts. On your school hardware or personal mobile device, to view a tour in 360°, you can download the Google Arts & Culture app. To find a tour on the Google Arts and Culture app, search for the tour's title and open it. You can also access tours from a dedicated section of the app that groups them together.
