How do I schedule for more than one class?

In this distance learning time, being able to schedule for more than one class at a time has become more important. Teaching from a distance takes much more time than in person, and the current workaround is time-consuming. Will Google make this an option soon?

Hello! Welcome to the Google Classroom Help Community.  It is true that you cannot schedule an assignment for more than one class at a time. If you'd like to see this feature added, please send your feedback directly to the directly to the developer team via the '?' button in the lower portion of the classroom screen. They do read all feedback received through that channel and take it into consideration when planning future updates and new features.  In the meantime, I am posting two different workarounds below in case one of these is not the one you are using right now!  Workaround #1
  1. Create the assignment post and schedule it in one classroom.
  2. Go to another classroom that you would like to post the same assignment in and navigate to the classwork tab.
  3. Click the "create" button in the upper right and select "reuse assignment".
  4. In the "reuse assignment" tool, find the classroom you posted to originally and locate the assignment you wish to post to the new classroom. Click "reuse assignment".
  5. When the assignment tool pops up to schedule to the classroom, click the down arrow next to "assign" and select "schedule" then set your desired date and time.
  6. Repeat for each classroom you wish to post the assignment in.
Note: If you have multiple classes selected you will not be able to select "schedule".  Workaround #2
  1. Create the post, and select all the classes you would like to schedule to.
  2. Instead of clicking "schedule" or "assign", choose "save as draft". This will save it as a draft in all the classrooms.
  3. Visit each classroom and edit the assignment. Select "schedule" and set a date.

Like many others, I am trying to schedule assignments for multiple classes.
Workaround #2 does not work for me.
When I choose "save as draft", the assignment does not save in more than one classroom.
Any thoughts on what I might be doing wrong?

I'm running into the same issue.  I clicked the ? and sent feedback to the developers.  I assume all teachers are running into this and hope that Google engineers fix this ASAP as it's a crucial support to students.

I also find that #workaround 2 doesn't work, the 'save as draft' assignments do not appear in any of the other classrooms I specified. Would love to have a solution to this.

Thank you for the information, but I don't believe that these two work-arounds save the time that Debbie Aldous, the original poster, and I are looking for.  It would help us very much if we were able to schedule multiple classes at the same time without having to go back and "reuse".

For example, I have to make an attendance question for 7 classes for each day until the school year is over (40 days at this point).  So that means I have to go into each class 40 times to reuse the question (for a total of 280 times).  I also realize you can save as a draft, but that is another thing to remember each day.  I am by no means lazy, I know it might sound like I am trying to get out of doing work.  However, I am hoping to save the time I would take for these tedious tasks to focus on lesson planning.

Thank you in advance!

It would be really helpful to be able to choose "Schedule" when multiple classes are selected. I'm wasting so much time going into each class, and choosing "reuse post." Neither of the "workarounds" save any time. I hope the GC team can address this soon. Thanks!

Re use post is simply spinning. Can't use it to re-post to multiple classes. Ridiculously frustrating and time-consuming.

Agree.  I'm only posting to one classroom, but often certain assignments or posts are applicable for every day, or every M-W-F, etc.  The reuse post option saves little time.  Should be able to select multiple days, or always, etc.  like Google Calendar.

Thank you, but it does not save as a draft in multiple classes.  I tried and could only access it in the class for which I created it, even though I checked 6 classes.  I am on a Macbook in Chrome. I did message the developers to ask them to add that function, since it seems odd that we can't already do that.

As of today May 12th the feature that so many of us would love to have is sadly still not an option.

Yes, Work around 2 isn't working for me. Why? Can anyone from Google help me. I am the technology teacher in my school so I have several classes and I need to be able to push out an assignment at least in draft to several classes because can't do schedule.

Thank you
Ray

Yes, We should be able to schedule class work assignments to multiple classes. This will shorten the mouse clicks and make the life a bit easier.
