In August 2019, Classroom introduced the Originality reports beta program, a new tool for teachers and students. As a teacher, you can highlight online sources in student work. Students can use the reports to avoid unintentional plagiarism.
Turn on Originality reports when you create an assignment. As students work on the assignment, they run reports to see if their work has any content linked to online sources. After a student submits the assignment:
- You see links to the online sources in the student’s submission.
- You can use the reports to inform your feedback to students.
Teachers, for more information, see:
- Students can run up to 3 reports on an assignment before they submit it.
- Students see which work is original and which work they sourced online.
- Students can focus on paraphrasing the material and adding citations for it.
In June 2019, G Suite for Education announced a beta program to sync Classroom and your student information system (SIS). Initially, we support Infinite Campus, Capita SIMS, and Skyward SMS 2.0 with more SIS integrations to come.
As the admin, you:
- Complete the beta sign-upform.
- Connect your SIS to Classroom.
- Set teacher permissions.
As a teacher, you push grades directly from Gradebook to the SIS.
For more information on syncing grades to your SIS, go to the Grade sync pilot FAQ page.
For schools that wish to have both grades and rosters connected to their SIS, there are several solutions. To learn more, see the Classroom partners page.
In June 2019, Classroom introduced the Rubrics beta program, a tool for teachers to create custom rubrics to grade assignments and share feedback with students.
As a teacher, you can add criteria, performance levels, and scoring to the rubrics, and share them with students. Students can reference the rubric as they work. After grading, students can see their assignment feedback on the rubric.
