Randomly select a student

To randomly call on your students, you can use Classroom’s Student selector. The Student selector randomly picks students from your class roster. You can call on a student, skip a student to call on later, or mark a student as absent.

This feature is only available on Android and iOS mobile devices.

Note: Students can’t see the Student selector.

Select a student
  1. On your mobile device, tap Classroom Classroom and then your class and then People People.

    Tap People

  2. In the top-right corner, tap Student selector Student selector.
  3. Choose one:
    • Call on the shown student And then tap Next for another student.
      On iOS devices, you can also swipe to the next student.
    • To skip the shown student, tap Call Later.
    • To mark the shown student absent for the selection session, tap Absent.
  4. (Optional) At the end of the session, if you want to start over, tap Start Again.
See the class roster

To see a list of who has been marked as Picked, Not Picked, or Absent, go to the class roster.

  1. On your mobile device, tap Classroom Classroom and then your class and then People People.

    Tap People

  2. In the top-right corner, tap Student selector Student selector.
  3. Under their numbers, tap Not Picked, Picked, or Absent.
    You’ll see which students were not picked, picked, or absent.
  4. To return to the Student selector, in the top-left corner, tap Back Back or Close Close.
Reset the Student selector
  1. On your mobile device, tap Classroom Classroom and then your class and then People People.

    Tap People

  2. In the top-right corner, tap Student selector Student selector.
  3. In the top-right corner, tap Reset.
  4. Tap Reset again to confirm.
    All students are marked as Not Picked.
