Add materials to the Classwork page

As a Classroom teacher, you can post resource materials, such as a syllabus, classroom rules, or topic-related reading, to the Classwork page. 

Like other types of posts on the Classwork page, materials can be organized by topic, reordered, and scheduled to post later.

Add materials

When you add materials to the Classwork page, you can:

Add materials

  1. Tap Classroom "" and then the class.
  2. Tap Classwork

  3. Tap Add and then Material.
    Tap Material
  4. Enter a title and a description.
    Enter title

Add attachments

You can add Google Drive files, links, or YouTube videos to your materials.

Tap Attach "" and choose an option:

  • To attach a Drive item, tap Drive  and tap the item.
    Note: If you see a message that you don’t have permission to attach a file, tap Copy. Classroom makes a copy to attach to the material and saves it to the class Drive folder.
  • To attach a link, tap Link , enter the URL, and tap Add.
  • To attach a file from your device, tap File Upload and select the file.
  • To attach a photo, tap Pick photo and choose the photo.
  • To take a photo, tap Use camera. Take the photo and tap Use Photo.

To delete an attachment, next to it, tap Remove .

Post to one or more classes

  1. Next to the class name, tap Next Next.

  2. Tap any additional classes and then Done.

    Note: You can’t post to individual students across multiple classes. Posts to multiple classes are shared with all students in the classes.

Post to individual students

By default, material is posted to all students in the class. You can post material to individual students. However, if more than one class is included, you can’t post to individual students. You also can’t post to more than 100 individual students at a time.

  1. Tap All students and then tap All students again to deselect it.

  2. Tap the students who you want to post the material to.
  3. Tap Done.

    Note: You’ll see the number of students you posted to in the class stream. To view the students’ names, tap number students on the material.

Add a topic

  1. Tap No topic.
    Tap No topic
  2. Choose an option:
    • To create a new topic, tap Add topic and enter a topic name.
    • Tap a topic in the list.
  3. Tap Save.
Post, schedule, or save drafted material

To post the material immediately, tap Post Post.

To schedule the material to post later:

  1. Tap More and then Schedule.
    Tap Schedule
  2. At Schedule for date, tap the date, and select a date and time. Tap OK.
  3. Tap Schedule.
    The material automatically posts at the scheduled date and time.

To save the material as a draft, tap More and then Save changes.

To see scheduled and drafted material, tap Classwork

Edit or delete material posts

Note: If you post material to several classes, editing it in one class doesn't change it in any other class.

  1. Tap Classroom "" and then the class.
  2. Tap Classwork.
  3. On a post, swipe left Swipe left.
  4. To delete a post, tap Delete  and then Delete again to confirm.
  5. To edit a post, tap Edit  and choose an option:
    • For posted or scheduled material, make changes. 
      Then tap Save or Schedule.
    • For draft material, make changes.
      Then tap More  and  Save changes.
