Share a webpage with your students

This page is for teachers. Students go here.

If you and your students use the Chrome browser on computers, then you can share a webpage from your computer to your students’ computers with the Share to Classroom Chrome extension. The extension also lets your students share webpages with you.

Share to Classroom Chrome extension

You share a webpage in 1 of 2 ways:

  • Share it with all students in a class so it instantly appears in the browsers of all active students and co-teachers
  • Attach the webpage to an assignment, question, or announcement

Share a webpage with your class

Your students and co-teachers must have the Share to Classroom extension enabled to receive the webpages.

  1. In Chrome, go to the webpage you want to share. Next to the address bar, click Share to Classroom Classroom share button.

    Click Share to Classroom

  2. Sign in with your G Suite for Education account.
  3. Click the name of your class.

    Click your class

    Note: If you haven’t created any classes, you'll get an error message. Click Open Classroom to create a class. For details, see Add a class.
  4. From the drop-down list, choose what you want to do:
    • To share the webpage to your class, select Push to students, and then click Push.
      The webpage instantly appears in the browsers of all active students and co-teachers.
    • To attach the webpage to a post:
      • To create an assignment, select Create assignment, enter your assignment, and click Assign
      • To ask a question, select Ask question, enter your question, and click Ask
      • To create an announcement, select Make announcement, enter your announcement, and click Post
  5. (Optional) Click View to view the assignment, question, or announcement in the class stream.
See recently shared webpages
  1. In Chrome, next to the address bar, click Share to Classroom Classroom share button.

    Click Share to Classroom

  2. Click the drop-down menu and verify that Push to students is selected.
  3. Select the webpages you want to see:
    • Pushed to students—Lists webpages you pushed to your students in the last 18 hours.
    • Received from students—Lists webpages your students pushed to you in the last 18 hours.
Mute notifications of webpages shared by students

As a teacher, you receive a notification whenever students share a webpage with you. 

  1. In Chrome, next to the address bar, click Share to Classroom Classroom share button.

    Click Share to Classroom

  2. Click Settings Settings.
  3. Under Notifications, turn off Show browser notifications when students push webpages to me

While notifications are muted, click Received from students to continue seeing the pages shared by students.
