Use NotebookLM

To help you learn and study, you can use NotebookLM. It's an interactive guide based on your class materials that helps you take notes and track information. Learn more about NotebookLM.

When your teacher creates and assigns a notebook to you in Classroom, you can chat with your notebook to get grounded information and interact with teacher-generated studio items like:

  • Audio overviews
  • Study guides
  • FAQs
  1. On your computer, go to Google Classroom.
  2. On the left side panel, select Class .
  3. From the Classwork stream item, like Assignment or Material, click the attached notebook you want to open.
    • A new tab opens.

Use a Gem

You can use a Gem as your own AI tutor. Your teacher can use class content to create Gems that offer extra support or help you explore subjects further. Learn more about Gems in Gemini Apps.

  1. On your computer, go to Google Classroom.
  2. On the left side panel, select Class .
  3. From the Classwork stream item, like Assignment or Material, click the attached Gem you want to open.
    • A new tab opens.

Tip: In the "Class learning tools," you can also access the notebook or Gem if your teacher has chosen to highlight it there.

  1. On your computer, go to Google Classroom.
  2. Select a class.
  3. Click the Classwork tab.
    • Under "Class learning tools," you can find the list of available NotebookLMs or Gems.
  4. Next to the notebook or Gem you want to open, click Open.
    • A new tab opens.

Learn more about NotebookLM & Gems

  • Access: You automatically have access to notebooks and Gems that your teacher shares with you in Classroom. When you leave the class, your access is removed.
  • Mobile: You can access NotebookLM or Gem links on:
    • A mobile browser
    • NotebookLM
    • The Gemini app

Tip: If you don't have access to a linked resource in NotebookLM or Gems, an error message displays.
