Grade & track practice set assignments

This article is for teachers.

Important: Teachers must manually enter scores from practice sets into their Classroom gradebook.

Use practice sets with:

  • Google Workspace for Education Plus edition, formerly G Suite Enterprise for Education
  • Teaching and Learning Upgrade edition

Review student work

  1. On your computer, go to classroom.google.com.
  2. Click the class.
  3. At the top, click Classwork and then the assignment.
  4. On the right, click the number above "Turned in" or "Assigned." The student work page displays.
    • Tip: To get to the student work page, the number for "Turned in" and "Assigned" can't be 0.
  5. On the right, click the number next to the work status you want to review:
    • Assigned: Work that students have to turn in. Includes late or unsubmitted work.
    • Turned in: Work that students have turned in.
    • Graded: Work that you’ve graded and returned.
    • Returned: Work that you’ve returned ungraded.
  6. Optional: To display all the students in a work status, click that work status.
  7. On the left, click a student’s name. Their work displays.

View class insights

Important:
  • The class insight tool is only available for practice sets.
  • Questions set to “Auto" are automatically graded.
  1. On your computer, go to classroom.google.com.
  2. Click the class and then the Classwork tab and then the assignment.
  3. On the right, click the number above "Turned in" or "Assigned." The student work page displays.
    • Tip: To get to the student work page, the number for "Turned in" and "Assigned" can't be 0.
  4. In the left panel, at the top, click Class insights.
  5. In the bottom left sidebar, under "Insights," select an option:
    • All students- Displays a summary of how many students answered correctly.
    • Problem number- to display responses to a single question, click on the column number.
    • Insights- to display high-level insights, like where the class or individuals struggled, at the top left, click the box.
    • Individual student- To display an individual student's practice set, click their name.

Grade an assignment manually

  1. On your computer, go to a class.
  2. Click the Classwork tab.
  3. Select the desired assignment.
  4. At the bottom left, click View Assignment.
  5. Click Class insights and then A student's name and then The practice set.
  6. Select a question.
  7. Click ungraded, correct, or incorrect.
  8. In the list that drops down, select the grade status:
    • Correct
    • Incorrect
  9. In the right pane, enter the grade.
    • After you reload, the grade reflects for both student and teacher.
  10. Optional: Add a private comment for the student.
