Cookies are files created by websites that you go to. They save browsing information to make your online experience easier. In order to work, Assignments requires that your browser allow third-party cookies. These cookies link Assignments to your learning management system (LMS).
Turn on third-party cookies for Chrome
- Open your Chrome browser.
- At the top right, click More options .
- Click Settings Privacy and security Cookies and other site data.
- Select one of these options:
- Allow all cookies: Allows you to use Assignments any time you use Chrome.
- Block third-party cookies in Incognito: Allows you to use Assignments only when you use a regular Chrome tab and not private browsing. Learn how private browsing works in Chrome.
Turn on third-party cookies for other browsers
In addition to Google Chrome, Google Assignments works with the 2 most recent versions of the following non-Google browsers:
- Firefox
- Windows: Microsoft Edge
- Mac: Safari
Other browsers or versions may work, but might not allow you to use the features. For settings on other browsers, you can:
- Turn on third-party cookies.
- Change the settings to allow cross-site tracking.

To allow cross-site tracking in Safari:
- On your Mac, computer, Android device, iPhone, or iPad, in the Safari app, select Safari Settings Privacy.
- Deselect “Prevent cross-site tracking.”

- On your Mac, computer, Android device, iPhone, or iPad, in Microsoft Edge, select Settings and more Settings Privacy, search, and services.
- Set “Tracking prevention” to Off.

To allow cross-site tracking on Firefox:
- On your Mac, computer, Android device, iPhone, or iPad, at the top of the screen, in the Menu bar, select Firefox.
- Select Preferences Privacy & Security.
- Select Manage Exceptions.
- Add the URL or domain of your learning management system to the exceptions.
- For example, for Canvas users, this domain can be ”instructure.com.”
- Save changes.
