Hi Nathan,
Google Earth Pro only exports .kml or .kmz. It will import .gpx.
You can try using a third party converter like GPS Visualizer to convert a KML file to GPX.

Hi Gary,
The GPX standard is, in fact, weak and deficient. There's little or no consensus between manufacturers, or even from device to device with one manufacturer, about what will be included in a GPX file.
There's also the problem of many manufacturers developing their own proprietary file type and then either going broke or deciding to try another file type. There are probably a hundred GPS file formats.
Google Earth doesn't even really import GPX. GPX is handed off to GPSBabel and converted to KML. Then it is displayed.
Google Earth is entirely KML. You can use GPSBabel or GPS Visualizer (which is mostly a front end for GPSBabel) or any of a large number of other GPX editors to make a track that suits you. If it will work with your device, Garmin BaseCamp should work.
If you look at the web and mobile versions of GE, you'll see that they don't import or export GPX.
I hope that helps.
