Hi Jackson,

There are different versions of Google Earth.  Google Earth Pro won't install and run on a Chromebook.  The web browser version should run in your Chrome browser.

If you can't get the web browser version to load there are some fairly standard things to try.  I think they should apply to your Chromebook.

Please see the new entries in the Help Center.

Then check the following:
  • "Use hardware acceleration when available" has to be checked in Advanced Settings in Chrome.
  • If Earth stops before completely loading, please try refreshing the browser page.
  • Try running Chrome in incognito.  This lets Chrome run without extensions that might be interfering.
  • Type chrome://flags in the address bar.  Select the first option 'Override Software Rendering list'.  Then restart Chrome.  Please leave everything else alone.
  • If necessary, Clear cache and cookies.
If you still have a problem, please post here again so we can try looking a little deeper.

Does that help?

Is this your personal Chromebook or part of a school or business system using G Suite?

I cannot get Google Earth web to load either.  Does it matter that I am on a school managed Chromebook?

Hi Brenda,

You'll have to contact your school's G Suite administrator.  Google Earth is an optional program that has to be enabled.

Thank you.

Katherine, is yours working now? We've been told there was a small outage for Chrome which started last Friday, but that it should be fixed now.
