Where are the tilt and compass controls on the new Google Earth Web?

I cannot find the tilt and compass controls on the new Google Earth Web. Our academy uses these controls to study high frequency radio wave propagation. Without them, it is impossible to make maps like the one shown below that demonstrates the face of a cliff blocking propagation to the south out of Great Basin National Park. The second two images illustrate a class discussion about a propagation pattern (first image) with the answer revealed in the second image, (a hill behind the transmitting station), This feature is a key teaching aid for physics and geography at our academy. If the controls have been removed, is it possible to bring them back please?

Best Regards,
Hamilton Carter

Can tilt/rotate, by holding the 'middle' mouse button, and dragging. Usually the mouse wheel itself.

Can also hold down Shift then up/down arrow to tilt. Left/Right to rotate.

To be honest I didnt know you could turn then globe into a draggable compass in v9. Yes, that doesnt seem to be present in the new version.

The new version does display a compass when rotate/tilt

Can click the 2D/3D toggle to quickly switch between top down and a tilted view

But use the mouse to actually change the tilt/rotation

I can't find controls to change the tilt and rotation. I saw the 'compass' displayed when the app was rotating the map as it went into 3D Mode, but there doesn't seem to be a way to change the tilt or rotation once in 3D mode. Is that correct?

Thanks,
Hamilton Carter

I agree this is key for studying terrain futures for skiing, climbing, hiking in the mountains.

Remember you can still tilt/rotate, to view 3D terrain, you just don't get the 'nifty' on-screen draggable compass.

Can still use mouse dragging and/or keyboard navigation

Just realised, you can also hold down ctrl or shift when dragging with left mouse button to tilt/rotate.
  • Shift, works more like the middle mouse button (use useful if dont have one!). Ctrl, offers an alternative mode.

I've got two thoughts:
First, thanks for the keyboard and mouse shortcuts. Some of them are actually better than the original controls.
Second, I'm waiting for new that Earth will no longer support tilt and rotate because no one uses it because, of course, they don't see the controls... Oh well. Hopefully they'll bring them back.
