Hi everyone,
On September 30, 2019, we will be retiring older versions of our mobile apps—specifically Google Earth 7 on iOS, and 7 and 8 on Android. These old versions were released over five years ago and have been superseded by the new Earth 9.
After September 30, 2019, retired versions of Google Earth for Android and iOS will not function as they will no longer connect to Google's servers.
We recommend that everyone using older versions upgrade to Google Earth version 9 through the Google Play or Apple App stores. Earth 9 continues to be actively developed with new features like Voyager, the measure tool, the latest imagery and more.
Most users of Earth 7 & 8 should be able to upgrade to Earth 9 through the Google Play or Apple App stores. Android 4.1+ (Jelly Bean) and iOS 9+ are the minimum required versions for Earth 9, but we strongly recommend using devices on Android 5.0+ (Lollipop) and iOS 11+. See these links for how to check your Android and iOS version.
Thanks,
Olivia T.
