Let Google Earth access your location

If you let Google Earth find your location through your device, you can:

  • Locate yourself on the globe. 
  • Get easy access to info about the world around you.

Tip: When you use the location feature and your position can’t be exactly determined, a large blue circle indicates the general area Google Earth thinks you're in.

Change your location access settings

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Settings app.
  2. Tap Privacy and then Location services.
  3. At the top, turn on or off Location services.
  4. To change Google Earth's access to your location, tap Google Earth and then choose an option.

Allow Google Earth to find your location

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open Google Earth Google Earth.
  2. On the right, tap My Location My Location off.
  3. Allow Google Earth to access your location.

Find yourself on the globe

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open Google Earth Google Earth.
  2. On the right, tap My Location My Location off.

Change your location mode

So Google Earth can always find your location, you can change your location mode.

To switch between location modes, on the right, tap My Location My Location off

Tip: Based on the status of My Location My Location off, you can check which mode is turned on:

  • On, updating My Location on
  • Off, not visible My Location off
