Install the Earth Plug-in


You can find the link to install the Google Earth Plug-in in the Google Earth API Developer's Guide site, which also explains how to use the Earth plug-in.

Your browser will probably ask for permission to install the plug-in. Click through to allow installation. After you install, you might need to refresh the page to display the plug-in correctly.

Note: The plug-in won't install while Firefox is running. Close Firefox and use a different browser to install the plug-in.

Verify installation

Go to the Earth Plug-in site. If the plug-in is installed, the site displays "Good news, you already have the Google Earth Plug-in installed" as outlined in red below.

  • Windows. Select Start > Programs (or All Programs) > Google Earth > Uninstall Google Earth Plug-in.
  • Mac: Drag the /Library/Internet Plug-ins/Google Earth Web Plug-in.plugin file to the trash, then restart your browser.
