Install the Google Earth plug-in

The Google Earth Plug-in is a free JavaScript API that lets you embed Google Earth in your web pages.

To download and learn how to use the Earth plug-in, visit the Google Earth API Developer's Guide site. Not all browsers support the Google Earth plug-in.

Note: If your browser asks for permission to install the plug-in, click through to allow installation. After you install, refresh the page to ensure the plug-in displays correctly.

To verify the Earth plug-in installed correctly:

  1. Go to the Google Earth download page.
  2. If the plug-in is installed, the site displays: "Good news, you already have the Google Earth Plug-in installed."

If you no longer need the Earth plug-in, you can uninstall it.

On Windows: Select Start and then Programs and then Google Earth and then Uninstall Google Earth Plug-in.

On a Mac: Delete /Library/Internet Plug-ins/Google Earth Web Plug-in.plugin. Then, restart your browser.
