Save images from around the world

You can save maps to your computer's hard drive as .jpg image files. The image is saved with all placemarks, borders, or other layer information that is visible in the 3D viewer.

Earth Pro and EC users can also save maps as .pdf files. To learn how, see Printing and saving maps.

To save a map as a .jpg image:

  1. Select File > Save > Save image... or click the Save Image Google Earth Pro save image button button on the toolbar.

Google Earth users can save images at the current resolution only. For Google Earth Pro and EC users, the Save Image toolbar appears, displaying the Resolution button.

    • Current
    • 1024x768 pixels
    • 1280x720 (720 HD)
    • 1920x1080 (1080 HD)

Selecting the Current resolution saves the entire visible image. Selecting other resolutions saves the image at the aspect ratio that is previewed on your screen.

Your computer's Save dialog appears so that you can save your map to your computer's hard drive as a .jpg image.

Note: When saving images, Google Earth Pro automatically stitches together images that are a different resolution than the images displayed on the screen. Depending on the resolution you select, your saved image might be slightly different from your screen image.
