Write folder and place descriptions

Give important details about your folder or place by writing a description. Descriptions appear when you click a placemark icon in the 3D viewer, and under the “Places” panel.

Add a description:

  1. Open Google Earth.
  2. From “Places” on the left, select a folder or place.
  3. From the toolbar, click Edit > Get Info.
  4. Click into the Description text box, and enter a description.

Add an image into a description:

  1. Click Add image…
  2. Enter the URL for your image into the text box.
    Only web URLs are accepted. File paths from your hard drive are not accepted.

Add a link into a description:

  1. Click Add link…
  2. Enter the URL for your link into the text box.
    Only web URLs are accepted. File paths from your hard drive are not accepted.

Ways to format

Standard HTML tags are used to format the description. Using the “Add image…” and “Add link…” buttons will automatically enter the HTML. Otherwise, type these HTML tags into the description box:
