Find & invite contacts

You can find a person to call through Duo if they're in your contacts. If they're not in your contacts but they use Duo, you can add them.

Find contacts

You'll see someone in your contacts in Duo.

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open Duo.
  2. Tap Video call video call.
  3. You can tap their name in the contacts list, or enter their name or phone number in the search box.

Remove contacts access

If you give access, you can use your phone's contacts and Google Account contacts in Google Duo.

  • You can turn off access to your phone's contacts. To turn off access, open your device's settings. Find Duo and turn off the contacts permission.
  • You can remove access to your Google Account contacts. If you remove your Google Account from Google Duo, you can stop Duo from accessing your Google Account contacts. If you remove your account, you won't be able to use certain features like using Google Duo on multiple devices.

If you can't find someone in the app's contacts

If you don't see a contact you're looking for, first check the following:

  3. Look for the contact you want to invite, and tap Invite
  4. Your default SMS app will open with a pre-loaded invitation message. Tap Send.
