Examples: Filtering the change history report to view specific account changes

The following examples show you how to filter the change history report by keyword, bid strategy, and sitelinks.

Review keyword bid changes

If your daily, weekly, monthly, or quarterly task is to review the impact of keyword bid changes, you can filter the change history list to see the date and time keywords bids were changed. Then you can switch to the account or lower scope to view performance data and even compare  to performance before the bid was changed. 

  1. Navigate to an account.
  2. Select a time range on or after May 21, 2016 in the upper right corner.
  3. In the left navigation panel, click Change history.
  4. Filter the list to include only keywords:
    1. Click Filter in the toolbar.
    2. Click + Attribute ▼, and then click Entity changed.
      The only available criteria is, is one of.
    3. Next to number selected, click the down arrow ▼, and then click Clear to remove the check marks next to the items in the list.
    4. On the Search line, type keyword.
    5. Select the check box next to Keyword, and then click OK.
  5. Add another filter to include bid changes to keywords:
    1. Click + Attribute ▼, and then click Change type.
      The only available criteria is, is one of.
    2. Next to number selected, click the arrow ▼, and then click Clear to remove the check marks next to the items in the list.
    3. In the list, select the check box next to Bid decreased and Bid increased, and then click OK.
      Or, on the Search line, type bid, and then select the check box next to Bid decreased and Bid increased.
  6. Click Apply filters.
  7. To view a keyword's performance during the selected time range, in the Account, Campaign, or Ad group column, click the name of the item to switch to the performance report, and the click the Keywords tab.
  8. Click the arrow ▼ next to the time range.
  9. Select the Compare to past check box, and then specify a time period before you changed the bid to see the difference in performance.
  10. Click Apply.

Filter the change history report for keywords

  1. Navigate to an advertiser, account, campaign, ad group.
  2. Select a time range on or after May 21, 2016 in the upper right corner.
  3. In the left navigation panel, click Change history.

    Changes in the selected scope and lower are displayed.

  4. Click Filter in the toolbar.
  5. Click Attribute ▼, and then click Entity changed.
  6. The next selectable option in the filter displays the number of items currently shown in the list.

    Click the down arrow ▼ next to the number.

  7. All the items are selected by default. Click Clear.
  8. Select the Keyword check box, and then click OK.
  9. Click Apply Filters.

    The change history report displays changes made to keywords.

See changes made by a bid strategy

  1. Navigate to an advertiser.
  2. In the left navigation panel, click Bid strategies.
  3. Select a time range on or after May 21, 2016 in the upper right corner.
  4. In the Bid strategy column, click the name of a bid strategy to switch to the bid strategy Overview page.
  5. In the left navigation panel, click Change history.

    All changes made by the bid strategy are listed.

See when a bid strategy was added to a campaign

  1. Navigate to a campaign.
  2. Select a time range on or after May 21, 2016 in the upper right corner.
  3. In the left navigation panel, click Change history.

    Changes in the selected scope and lower are displayed.

  4. Click Filter in the toolbar.
  5. Click Attribute▼, and then click Entity changed.
    Is one of is the only criteria option.
  6. Click the down arrow ▼ next to the number.

  7. All the items are selected by default. Click Clear.
  8. Select the Bid strategy check box, and then click OK.
  9. Click Apply Filters.

    The change history report displays the bid strategies that were added to the campaign.

See changes made to sitelinks

  1. Navigate to an account.
  2. Select a time range on or after May 21, 2016 in the upper right corner.
  3. In the left navigation panel, click Change history.

    Changes in the selected scope and lower are displayed.

  4. Click Filter in the toolbar.
  5. Click Attribute ▼, and then click Entity changed.
    Is one of is the only criteria option.
  6. Click the down arrow ▼ next to the number.

  7. All the items are selected by default. Click Clear.
  8. Select the Sitelink check box, and then click OK.
  9. Click Apply Filters.

    The change history report displays changes made to sitelinks.

Switch to campaign performance report from change history

  1. Navigate to an advertiser.
  2. Select a time range on or after May 21, 2016 in the upper right corner.
  3. In the left navigation panel, click Change history.

  4. Optional. Click Filter in the toolbar to display changes for specified campaigns.

  5. In the Campaign column, click the name of the campaign to switch campaign performance report to see if changes impacted performance.
Changes made before May 21, 2016 aren't available in the change history report.
