Stricter validation when uploading ads

If you use bulksheets to upload new ads or edit existing ones, note the following changes:

  • Uploading new ads: When creating new ads in a bulksheet, you can only enter data in columns that are valid for the type of ad you're creating. For example, the column Call country code is valid only for call-only ads. If you specify a call country code on a row that creates a text ad, the bulksheet will not validate.

Before this change, DoubleClick Search would ignore data in invalid columns.

  • Editing existing ads: The Ad type column is now required for existing ads. For example, if you're updating an existing ad, you'll need to specify the ad type. Note also that if download a bulksheet that contains existing ads, even if you don't explicitly edit an existing ad, you'll need to specify an ad type before you upload (you can also remove any rows for ads that you're not updating).

Specify one of the following values in this column to indicate the type of ad in the current row:
    • Text
    • Dynamic search
    • Mobile app install
    • Call-only

When creating new ads, you only need to specify the ad type if you're creating something other than standard text ads (this is already required, so there's no change for creating ads).

Measure results

Report by affinity category and in-market segment

To help reach your intended audience, you can see how your search ads perform for audience categories assembled by Google. Once you understand which audiences are responding to your ads, you can adjust keywords, ad copy, or the content on your site to better match customer intent.

You can view audience data organized into the following categories:

  • Affinity categories: Interest groups such as Auto Enthusiasts, Foodies, Movie Lovers, Travel Buffs, Shutterbugs.

  • In-market segments: Customers who are researching products and actively considering buying a service or product in particular business verticals such as “Travel/Hotels & Accommodations” or “Consumer Electronics/Mobile Phones”.
