Manage Google Ads sitelinks

About Google Ads sitelinks in Search Ads 360

Sitelink extensions appear beneath the text of your ads (and in addition to the main landing page), link to specific pages on your website, and help customers find what they're looking for on your site with just one click.

You can create and edit sitelinks in Search Ads 360, in a bulksheet, or in Google Ads and then sync the change into Search Ads 360.

Sitelinks can be configured to display in all campaigns and ad groups in an account. You can also choose the sitelinks that display in selected campaigns and ad groups.

Search Ads 360 then reports on performance and conversions for each sitelink.

How sitelinks work

Google Ads sitelinks are created at the account level. This enables you to manage and edit your sitelinks in one place and choose where the sitelinks display.

Sitelinks appear in ads because they are inherited from the account by campaigns and ad groups or because the sitelinks are directly applied to campaigns or ad groups. Even though all sitelinks are available at the account level, only the sitelinks that are set up to be inherited from the account are referred to as account-level sitelinks.

Sitelinks are inherited or applied to campaigns and ad groups

Sitelinks are automatically inherited from a higher level if a campaign or ad group allows sitelinks and sitelinks aren’t applied to the campaign or ad group. Campaigns can inherit account-level sitelinks from the account and ad groups can inherit sitelinks from the campaign, regardless of the account-level setting.

Alternatively, you can apply a sitelink to a campaign or ad group to override inherited sitelinks or as another way to display different sitelinks in a campaign or ad group.

A campaign stops inheriting account-level sitelinks if you apply a sitelink directly to the campaign. The same is true for ad groups. If you apply a sitelink directly to an ad group, it stops inheriting sitelinks from the campaign.

Manage sitelinks

You can specify and manage sitelink settings for each account, campaign, or ad group individually. The sitelink setting for a campaign or ad groups determines whether sitelinks are inherited, directly applied,  or if sitelinks should display in the campaign or ad group.

The level determines which options are available. That is, the sitelink settings for an account are different from a campaign's sitelink settings.  The options may include inheriting sitelinks from a higher level, preventing sitelinks from displaying, or applying sitelinks to the item. For example, for a campaign, you can

  • Choose whether the campaign inherits sitelinks from the account.
  • Prevent sitelinks from displaying in any ads in the campaign.
  • Apply sitelinks directly to the campaign.

Manage sitelink options for a campaign. Select sitelinks options is selected. In the list of sitelinks, three out of four sitelinks are selected.
