Manage Floodlight tags

Manage Floodlight groups and activities

A Floodlight tag is a feature of DoubleClick Campaign Manager (DCM) that DoubleClick Search uses to track and report on conversions for a given website. It’s a 1x1 pixel tag that renders when the page on which it is located serves. Floodlight tags are located on pages where conversions take place (for example, when consumers make purchases or complete online forms).

Each Floodlight tag is contained within a Floodlight activity. In DoubleClick Search, you can create Floodlight activities with basic settings, and the Floodlight activity groups that contain them, so you likely won’t need to go to DCM. If you need to manage some of the more advanced settings of Floodlight activities -- such as counting method, cache busting method, and minimum impressions -- you can still do so through DCM.

Only an agency manager can create Floodlight activity groups/activities. Learn more about agency managers and other user types in DoubleClick Search.

Create a Floodlight activity group

  1. Navigate to an advertiser.

  2. In the left nav, click Advertiser settings.

  3. Click the Floodlight activity groups tab.
The current Floodlight activity groups for the advertiser appear.

  4. Click the + New button in the toolbar above the Floodlight activity group table.
The settings panel for the new Floodlight activity group appears.

  5. Name the Floodlight activity group.

  6. Enter the tag string.
Make sure that this string is unique within the advertiser. For example, you could abbreviate the group name and end with a unique number (e.g., convert a group name of $3 sale to a tag string of 3sale123).

  7. Enter the type of conversion you want attributed to the Floodlight activities in this group.
    • Transaction - Each conversion for the Floodlight activities will be considered a transaction, or a completed purchase, such as a computer.
    • Action - Each conversion for the Floodlight activities will be considered an action, or a non-purchase process, such as a catalog subscription.
  8. Click Save.
DoubleClick Search adds the Floodlight activity group to the table. You can now add Floodlight activities under the group.
