About editing campaigns and ad groups
DoubleClick Search (DS) provides a few different ways to edit campaigns and ad groups:
Edit campaigns and ad groups one at a time: If you're editing detailed settings, such as location targeting, you'll need to edit each campaign and ad group separately. The changes that you make will be in effect immediately.
Apply edits to a group of campaigns or ad groups: For a limited set of common settings, you can apply edits to a group of campaigns or ad groups all at once.
For example, you can specify a 5% increase in the daily budget and then apply the increase to a group of campaigns all at once.
You can schedule these bulk edits to occur at a specific time instead of taking effect immediately.
Use automated rules to apply bulk edits: Instead of manually selecting campaigns and ad groups for bulk edits, you can create rules that select campaigns or ad groups based on criteria that you specify, and then apply a bulk edit to the selected items.
For example, you can create a rule that runs each night and pauses any ad group with a cost of over a specific amount.
Undo bulk edits: When you schedule a bulk edit, you can also specify that DS reverts the edit at a specific time. Alternatively, DS keeps a history of all bulk edits in the last 30 days. You can use a bulksheet to download a report of these edits and undo them.
You can also edit campaigns and ad groups in the engine and sync the changes into DS. If you plan to make changes regularly in the engine, you can make sure that the changes are available to DS by scheduling syncs to occur nightly.
