Change the status of an object

A campaign, ad group, ad, or keyword can have a status of Active, Paused, or Deleted:

  • Active: The ads in the campaign or ad group will be served on the search engine.

  • Paused: The ads in the object will not serve on the search engine. When you pause a campaign for Google or Microsoft, only the campaign itself is updated with a status of Paused (or the equivalent status) on the search engine. All of the ad groups, ads, and keywords that are a part of the paused campaign will continue to have their current statuses on the search engine, although they will not actually be active because their campaign is paused. Similarly, when you pause an ad group, its ads and keywords keep their current statuses.

  • Deleted: Permanently removes an object from the search engine. DoubleClick Search will also delete every ad group and keyword that belongs to a campaign, or every keyword that belongs to an ad group.

Steps to change the status of a campaign, ad group, ad, or keyword

  1. Navigate to an engine account.

  2. Click the Campaigns, Ad groups, Keywords, or Ads tab.

  3. To change the status of one object: To the left of the object's name in the table, there is a Status icon. Click the icon and select Active, Paused, or Deleted from the dropdown.

  4. To change the stauts of a group of objects:

    • You can set up a filter to refine your bulk edit selection:

      • Set up a filter so the table contains only the ads or keywords you want to update.
    • If you need to further refine your selection, select the check boxes next to the ads or keywords you want to edit.
If you don’t select any check boxes, DS will edit all the objects across all pages.

    • In the toolbar above the table, click the Edit button and select Pause, Resume, or Delete.
      The Editing panel appears,

    • The Applies to option shows the number of objects you selected.
You also have the option to select all campaigns, ad groups, ads, or keywords across all pages or matching the filter.

    • You have the option of setting up a schedule.
      • Next to Start, elect to start the edit at a later time or set up a recurring schedule.
      • If necessary, use the Revert option to undo the changes at a certain time.
