Hi,

I have downloaded Backup and Sync on my computer.. However, when I try to open it. I have an error message and can't use the file. Please see attach error. I have deleted it several times and tried to install it and open it on my computer but every time I have the same fatal error.

Could you please help?

Thank you.

Diane

Hi Diane Cherrier!

Which exact build version of Mac OS are you using?

When you are attempting to install the app, are you using a computer login account that has full administrator privileges?

From where did you download the version of Backup & Sync you are attempting to install? (Don't want to assume!)

Looking forward to seeing your replies!

Darren,

Are you a MacOS user? If so, please consult this main thread about a MacOS problem with the app- which started recently:

If you are not a MacOS user, please start your own thread so that your issue doesn't get buried in the wrong scenario.

Thanks!

Having the same issue here, switch from a MacBook Pro running El Capitan (ver 10.11.6) to a MacBook Air running Mojave (ver 10.14.5).
Since I've made the change the Google Backup and Sync still works on the old Mac but it doesn't even open on the new one.

I installed twice already the sync app, with the only login account I have (admin privileges) and the problem persists.

Is there anything I can do to get this software to work?

@MisterCanada, I've tried to read the link thread you posted (https://support.google.com/s/community/forum/570924/thread/9082459) but no matter how I try to access it, it takes me to https://support.google.com/

Julio,

Thanks so much- you are the first person to report that I posted an "internal" link rather than a public one!! Not sure which no one else didn't discover that before. I have now corrected it to:

That being said, I do not believe your issue will be the same as the recent glitch on the server side when MacOS was attempting to obtain the proper version of the app.

Thus I would like you to please create your own thread- feel free to copy and paste most of what you said in your reply here. That way I can keep your specific issue and scenario separated and tracked properly.

Thanks!

I am having the same issue. I can't even download from Google Drive. Has a solution been found?

I am having a similar issue I think. I've gone through all the suggested Help topics (restart, logout & log back in, re-install Backup and Sync).

My files on the PC Windows 10 show as "uploaded" and synced. My iMac (OS 10.13.6) doesn't sync. Even if I "pause" and "resume" nothing happens. The only thing that works is quitting the application and then restarting. This is a pain however, as Google Drive takes 5 minutes or so to resync the whole drive.

Also, the files are syncing to the cloud as they show up as synced to the web client (both Mac and Windows).

I've attached screenshots of the Windows 10 computer and the iMac.

Please help! If this stays broken, I will have to ditch my pro version of Google Drive--this is a company account.

Thanks,

Dan
