I just set up a folder in Google Drive and loaded up a lot of files from my One Drive. I can go in a see the files but when  I try to download any files, I get this error message:
Access to doc-04-bs-docs.googleusercontent.com was denied
You don't have authorization to view this page.
HTTP ERROR 403

In another post the user said the following, which describes my situation exactly, but there was no response:
I have this same problem and YES, I am using two accounts but Google always defaults to my primary account and when I switch to my secondary one I am denied.  How do I go to my secondary account FIRST?  This is so frustrating because I just uploaded a zillion files and now can't use them!!

Wow!

Why Google doesn't fix this?!?

I am logged in with different gmail accounts. Every time I launch my gmail, it, with no reason, keeps opening one gmail account (main account) that is not the one linked to my drive. So I switch to my main account, then ask for Google Drive. Doing this, I can open AND DOWNLOAD the Docx files in it but I CAN'T DOWNLOAD pdf, Images, etc files......

Same error (it's been here for years, by the way).

I temporarily fixed by refreshing the error page and then after repackaging the files again, it started downloading the zip file without logging out of any accounts.

I do not know if this is reproducible. This was for a 536 MB folder with 27 files. :(

This bug really should've been fixed half a decade ago. It's only pushing us to move away from Google Drive and towards Dropbox. Multiple accounts can be logged in, we can browse every file, but God Forbid we want to download something.

Has anyone figured this out? I have multiple Google accounts(personal, school, and club), and need to share files, PDFs, and Excel sheet between all of them. For the club account, I need to be able to share documents with others and for them to be able to download them. I am currently unable to do this, which makes providing members with material extremely difficult.

Sounds like Google has made a change recently. I have the same problem. Usually upload, but sometime download as well. Never encountered it before today, and I always have at least 2 accounts open. At the moment, it's a little nuts with 5, but that's temporary. I can understand on a public computer, but not on a private one. Google, please fix this. Don't make security so high that the program is non-functional.

If you copy the url of the error window and paste it into a incognito window, it will download. much easier than chasing down all the different places you could be logged in at. pretty garbage workflow but until google fixes it, its what I have found to be the easiest.

Same issue. Most likely due to the signed in user of Chrome being different than the google drive account the download was initiated from.

Opening a incognito window and copy and pasting the URL into that window worked and I was able to download the file. Hope this helps others while issue is being addressed.

Steps:
1) Copy the URL from the address bar of the window that displays the access denied error
2) Open a window in Incognito mode
3) Paste the URL in the address bar of the window opened in Step 2
4) Hit "Enter" or the go button
5) File should start to download automatically

Here comes the nightmare:
Access to doc-08-a8-docs.googleusercontent.com was denied

HTTP ERROR 403.
FYI, my friend already made me as the files owner too, so we can collaborate in work.

I repeated the process above;
The Preparing Download dialog-box appeared from the bottom-right corner that said zipping 2 files that it looks like taking forever to process. Oh, btw.. it only under 40 KB uncompressed in total!
After a long wait, the compressed file come in my PC safe and sound.

I have the same issue, and I'VE FOUND A SOLUTION! Open Google Drive with a different type of browser, then download. I used Firefox.

The issue I was having was that my laptop and desktop have two different default accounts for Chrome. I've tried logging out of everything and starting over again, but it always goes back to my secondary account on the desktop. Even though I'm logged in with my primary account on the Google Drive site, it's still detecting that a different Google account (from the browser) is trying to download the files, so it blocks me. Since I can't seem to change the default on Chrome, my solution was to not use Chrome. I used Firefox, and since the web browser doesn't have a google account linked to it, it downloaded just fine.

Hopefully this works for others as well!

Hi,

In addition to Tyler's great idea, if you want to stay in Chrome, go with a incognito window and sign in with the Google Account that holds the files you want to download.

This is how I do currently get around this issue. However, I still don't see why I have to open an incognito window when I can access everything else except drive files through my multiple accounts with Google. I still believe this is an issue that Google should fix so that I don't have to open an incognito window and sign in with a secondary google account just to access the files I have in there. Thank you,

Katie

When you say that I have to log out of all of my accounts and then log in on just the one with which I would like to access my file, do you mean that I must log out on all devices? This is the absolute WORST.

I found a workaround, where if you create a shareable link of the files and then open EACH ONE in a new tab, you can download it from there without signing out of all your accounts. It prompts you to pick a new account to download with, but just for the purpose of the download; it doesn't save it to whichever account you pick.

However, this is a really crappy work-around if you have a LOT of files you need to download!! Google needs to fix this ASAP! This makes me want to switch to dropbox for all my file sharing needs. -_-;

Hello,

Certainly it would be great to get this resolved, so need to go with workarounds until when/if this can be updated, but submit user feedback If you've discovered a new bug or technical issue, report the issue right from Google Drive.
  1. Go to drive.google.com.
  2. Click Help .
  3. Click Send feedback.
  4. Enter your feedback, then click Send.
It might be worth the try and the actual folks who work with Google Drive will see the feedback.  Feedback will allow to give a detailed description of what is going on and also an option of including a screenshot of what you are seeing.

I have found a pretty decent workaround. For me, since I rarely have to download from my main Drive account (A1), I opened it in an incognito browser and all others in my regular browser. I still had email from A1 open in the regular browser, and at one point I had 2 different Drives open in the regular browser. I was able to up- and download single items from all three. The problem is specifically with Drive wanting to revert to A1.

Alternately, if you have to open a different Drive only rarely, open it in an incognito window and you should be fine. Otherwise, you have to download multiple files, which forces them into a zip folder.

Uploaded 4.4GB videos to my drive to test google. Test failed. Upload worked however download just does not. Simply clicked on the folder name and
1) Google zipped the folder automatically into 3 files omg... 1.8G 1.8G 0,8G. A whopping 0byte gain with the zip. What  a surprise to see mpg files already compressed.
2) Two out of three stopped with a Failed-network error. I tried again, same results. Google you took my files but does not want to give them back... how is that? Basically there is no way I can get back my own files.

Pushing out files is really easy but if you have a problem, you will never get them back. How's that for $70 a year?!

Hi there,

I am currently having an issue, as are all my colleagues, when trying to download files from Google Drive.

I have restarted and logged out of my account to no avail, and have tried this on my personal and my work account.

There seems to be an issue when downloading where it says "Scanning for viruses..." in the lower-left corner, and then says simply "Could not download "Filename."

This is for all file types, regardless of format, and again, this has happened on my personal Google account as well as my company account, and other members of the company are reporting the same issue, which makes it seem like it is a Drive issue.

Hey guys!

I have the same issue yesterday and literally freaked out about it since there is no real solution to this online. So, after a lot of experimentation, I found a way to solve it: I had to uninstall all the updates from Drive on my phone, and that worked 🤩

The steps are the next on Android: Select the app Drive and keep holding it until the menu shows up ➡️ Click App Info ➡️ Click Uninstall Updates ➡️ Click Ok to confirm.

Now, try going back to Drive and you should be able to download your files 🤓

I hope this works for you and if not, God bless you!
Andrea.

How do I get them onto my computer. there is no option to copy the files and only an option to move them to another folder on google drive. why cant I have MY information. WHY is it so hard to get MY files off the damn thing. I do not believe in cloud storage at all and I hate being forced to use it to do things with my own photos and docs in my own home. no one else needs copies of this stuff in a big hole in the ground. It should not be this difficult. I see a lot of people have trouble with it. Why is there no option to downlad things straight into a folder on my pc? WHY? It's my information. I wish all the info had been simply emailed to me in the first place. Cloud storage is nothing but a way of sucking money from people for the rest of your life, es[ecially when you can't easily remove what's there.
