Update May 23, 2019

As we approach the first anniversary of Google One, we're happy to announce that the Legacy 20GB Drive plan is now eligible for a trial to Google One. If you were on this plan, please check your email for more details.

The following types of accounts or plans remain not yet eligible for Google One:

  • Plans that are cancelled with time remaining on the subscription.
    • Example: An annual plan that was paid through June 30th, 2019, but cancelled on January 3, 2019. Because the existing plan is still in place through June 30th, but it technically cancelled, we’re unable to upgrade these plans. Once the remaining time on the existing plan expires, you’ll be able to upgrade to Google One.
  • Existing plans with subscriptions managed through iTunes.
    • While these plans aren’t currently eligible for upgrading to Google One, reach out to a Drive 1:1 specialist here to learn more about how to upgrade to Google One.
  • G Suite Accounts (with or without additional paid storage)
  • Accounts with billing based outside the currently available countries
If your plan should be eligible for upgrade and hasn’t been upgraded yet, there might be an issue with your payment method. Please check the following:

If you’ve confirmed the above is correct and you haven’t yet been upgraded, please create a new post so that we can look into this further.

Since Google One began rolling out in May 2018, Google One is now available in over 170 countries. See this article for a list of countries where Google One is currently available. Additionally, some Google Drive paid storage plans that were previously ineligible for Google One have now been upgraded.

Previously ineligible:
  • Plans marked as Legacy under drive.google.com/settings/storage
    • As of March 22, the majority of Legacy plans have been upgraded to Google One
    • The Legacy 20GB for $5/annual plan is still ineligible for upgrades, but keep an eye on your email for an update in the coming weeks.
  • Accounts without a billing country assigned.
    • These accounts should have received an upgrade notification recently and will be upgraded in the following weeks.

There are some types of accounts that are not yet eligible for Google One benefits or upgrades to Google One:

    • Example: An annual plan that was paid through June 30th, 2019, but cancelled on January 3, 2019. Because the existing plan is still in place through June 30th, but it technically cancelled, we’re unable to upgrade these plans. Once the remaining time on the existing plan expires, you’ll be able to upgrade to Google One.
