That article is about how to turn off sharing, how to change permissions on a file so change a user from editing to only viewing the file, that sort of thing.
So to stop sharing a file is this:
Stop sharing a file
If you share a file with people, the owner or anyone with edit access can change the sharing settings for the file.
- Open the homescreen for Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, or Google Slides.
- Select a file or folder.
- Click Share or Share
.
- At the bottom right of the "Share with others" window, click Advanced.
- Next to the person you want to stop sharing with, click Delete
.
- Click Save changes.
When you turn off a link to a file, the only people who can still see the file will be you and people whose names or email addresses you share with.
- Open the homescreen for Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, or Google Slides.
- Open or select a file.
- Click Share or Share
.
- Next to "Anyone with the link," click the Down arrow
.
- Click More.
- Click the circle next to "Off - Specific people."
- Click Save.
- Click Done.
