What has happened to the location list at top of drive display

I have some good news about this issue regarding the breadcrumbs/file paths.
This may have already rolled out to your account or accounts, but it's announced that they have fixed this issue.
When clicking on a file or files to move up a folder level, the breadcrumb/file-paths will now stay at the top and not simply be replaced with the 'X Files Selected... and menu'.
Instead that 'X Files Selected... and menu' will appear/replace the filter boxes in addition to the breadcrumbs/file-path that will remain in view.

It is a part of the new User Interface. Perhaps see this post Drive and Editors - New UI.
Could you use the navigation on the left in My Drive?
This post describes the issue best at https://support.google.com/drive/thread/208854610?msgid=209195640 I have a workaround in this post, https://support.google.com/drive/thread/210064429?hl=en&msgid=210145207 but it only works in My Drive, Shared Drives and Computers as you get the file structure in the left nav.
If you like, for the folks who take care of Drive, perhaps send in feedback directly from your Drive account. They do see all feedback sent by the feedback channel. You could give some input as to what you would like them to improve on or change.
