Change default location of Backup and Sync Folder on disk.

Selecting a folder that Backup and Sync will use to sync to Drive. Please enlighten us on how we can chose a folder (a single one) to be used by Backup and Sync other that the WINDOWSDRIVE:/USERS/User/GoogleDrive.Before this (let's call it sync client for the sake of the development) in old google drive client we were able to tell where the files will be saved, so we can use another disk or partition. We just want to have back the choice of location of the Google Drive folder...It seems that this become a luxury now as seen in the screenshot below : https://ibb.co/fmBGbaBefore this version, to change the location one had to disconnect and chose the location:https://image.ibb.co/kLAg9v/image01.pngNot, when we disconect we dont have the Settings part anymore, and once connected we can't change it. I miss something or the genie that designed the UI it's blind ?

I agree with RivmanBX, using the users folder, it will mean in the event of reinstalling windows, the entire folder will be erased and will need to be re-downloaded, which can amount to several Go. It's quite annoying.I'm trying currently to use a Symlink to fix this, but it's still a problem for most users.Could you add this possibility back from Google Drie?

What I found worked was deleting the newly created Folder under C/Users/etc then when I started drive sync it brought up a notification to say the Folder no longer existed that had an option to locate the folder.  This allowed me to choose the existing folder on a different drive instead of the one it had decided to create on my smallish SSD.This really should be an option available without having to do things like this.

Agreed. It's completely absurd to have to go through hoops to do something that should be elementary. Not wanting to save your data on an SSD that's meant only for your OS should be a given. Google makes some baffling decisions at times.

I just had same problem. I have 2 partitions, C:\ which is 256GB SSD, and D:\ which is 1TB regular HD. I always located all my data files (including Google Drive folder) on D:\.. And actually I already upgraded my Google Drive Desktop to B&S (Backup and Sync).I had to reinstall B&S because I had major error with my Windows 10 (located in my C:\) and I had to reinstall it from scratch, hence reinstalling all my programs (including B&S), only to find that default location of B&S is in C:\ and I couldnt change it in the beginning. But then I found after I disconnected my account, delete \Google Drive folder from the default location (C:\Users\...), signout from Windows (because I tried to Quit from B&S and it couldn't, so forced it to Quit by signingout from windows), login back to Windows, signin again to B&S, and there magically appeared the option to Change Location. So I pointed to my old Google Drive location in D:\... , which still has all my files on it, and now it says Comparing... (123456 files)... I'm guessing it's comparing the files on Google Server with the files on my D:\... It's still processing by the time Im typing this. But I have high hope it will work just fine.

Hello.
I confirm that after uninstalling (using revo) the B&S
and reinstalling the choice of folder can be made upon
first setup.
It may be related to OS that « block » user files but
I can’t confirm. Now my files are on connected drive where it should be.
Thanks for reading.
Cheers.

Yup, I don't have the link to change the folder in Backup and Sync. I would attach a screenshot, but for some reason the attach image/file is disabled for me.

Hi Terry!

Well, since this thread is posted in the Google Drive Help Forum and not the G Suite Help Forum, chances are that the fixes here for Backup & Sync/personal accounts usage may not correct your issue.

I can't move a specific reply to the G Suite Forum, so you'll have to ask about your specific issue by posting in that forum instead: G Suite Help Forum (FileStream/Team Drives)
