Uninstall Google Drive for Mac/PC

You may see a message that Google Drive for Mac/PC no longer syncs the files on your computer.

To sync the files on your computer, uninstall Google Drive, then install Drive for desktop.

Delete Google Drive for Mac/PC

Important: Before you uninstall Google Drive, close or quit the application.

macOS

  1. Open Finder.
  2. At the top, click Go and then Applications.
  3. Right-click Google Drive and then click Move to trash.
  4. To continue syncing your files to your computer, install Drive for desktop.

Optional: You can also delete the "Google Drive" folder in your home directory.

Windows

  1. Open the Start menu.
  2. Click Control Panel and then Programs.
  3. Click Programs and Features and then Google Drive.
  4. Click Uninstall.
  5. To continue syncing your files to your computer, install Drive for desktop.
