Get help with a WhatsApp backup
While WhatsApp backups use Google Drive storage, WhatsApp manages the back file and end-to-end encryption.
This means Google can’t access, examine, or restore your messages, photos, or other media from your backup.
To restore it to a new phone, find a missing backup, recover media, or other issues with your WhatsApp backup, contact the WhatsApp Help Center.
Restore a file from Google Drive Trash
If you deleted something recently using Google Drive or the Google Drive desktop app, you might be able to restore the file yourself.
Restore from your Trash
- Open your Google Drive App.
- Next to the file you want to recover, tap Menu
- Tap Restore.
