Recover a deleted file in Google Drive

Important: Permanently deleted files from Gmail, Google Photos or WhatsApp backups can't be recovered. Learn how to recover emails from Gmail.

You're not signed in to a Google Account. To request file recovery, log in to your Google Account and reload this article.

Sign in to your Google Account

Restore a file from the Google Drive bin

  1. Go to drive.google.com
  2. On the left, click Bin.
    • All your deleted files are listed in 'Bin'.
    • To find out how long ago files were added to the 'Bin', you can sort files by their 'Binned date'.
  3. To restore a file:
    1. Right-click the file.
    2. Click Restore.

Tip: Deleted files are stored in the bin for 30 days before they're deleted forever.

Steps to restore a file or folder from bin in Google Drive.

Drive support is not available in all languages. If you speak English, you can change your language and contact a Drive specialist.

  1. On your computer, go to the Google Drive Help Centre.
  2. At the bottom of the page, click your language.
  3. Choose English.
  4. At the top left, click Menu and then Contact us.
  5. Choose your issue and how you'd like to contact us.

Note: When you've finished, you can change your language back to your preferred language.
