Send an email from your alias in Gmail

You can make it seem like you’re sending an email from an alias instead of your personal Gmail account. Before you begin, set up and activate email forwarding.

Important: While these directions let you send emails from a custom email alias at your domain, email recipients can still find your personal Gmail address if they inspect the email headers. Emails from your alias are not digitally signed and are more likely to be flagged as spam.

For a more secure and integrated custom email experience, sign up for Google Workspace.

Step 1: Generate your app password

  1. On your computer, go to your Google Account
  2. At the left, click Security
  3. Under "Signing in to Google," click App passwords and sign in, if required.
