What’s the difference between BIND and .YAML files?

When you export your DNS records from one domain to another, you have 2 file formatting options:
  • BIND file
  • .YAML file

BIND files

A BIND file is a .TXT file commonly used by many domain registrars. You can use this type of file if you’re exporting DNS resource records to a domain that’s managed by a different registrar.

.YAML files

A .YAML file is exclusive to Google Cloud domains. This option only works if you’re exporting your DNS resource records to a domain managed by Google Cloud.
