Map your domain to WordPress.com

There are two options to map your domain in Google Domains to WordPress.com. Use either option to configure your domain.

Note: The instructions provided below only apply to sites hosted on wordpress.com. If you downloaded and installed WordPress software from wordpress.org, you need to check with your web host on how to map your domain.

Option 1 - Map your domain by changing name servers
  1. In WordPress.com, add domain mapping by going to the Domains page, select your site, and choose Map an Existing Domain.
  2. In Google Domains, click configure DNS tab .
  3. Under Name servers, click Use custom name servers and add the following information. (click + to add another field)
    • ns1.wordpress.com
    • ns2.wordpress.com
    • ns3.wordpress.com
  4. Click Save button.

Option 2 - Map your domain by setting up custom resource records
  1. In WordPress.com, add domain mapping by going to the Domains page, select your site, and choose Map an Existing Domain.
  2. In Google Domains, click configure DNS tab .
  3. Under Custom resource records, create a CNAME subdomain (not www) and map it to the WordPress URL then click Add.
  4. Under Synthetic records, add a subdomain forward for root and www to the subdomain created in step 3.

Please note that for DNS changes to take effect, it might take a propagation period of several minutes, depending on your location, or 24-48 hours across the entire internet.
