Google Domains works with the Trademark Clearinghouse (TMCH) to protect trademark owners. The TMCH is a centralized database of verified trademarks which is connected to all new gTLD (new domain endings) registries, and allows rights holders to participate in Sunrise priority registration periods as well as the Trademark Claims Service (outlined below).
Trademark Claims Service Procedure
When you register a domain name, Google Domains checks to see if that name matches any of the trademarks in the TMCH database. If it does match, you will see a trademark notice:
- Read the notice to fully understand your rights and obligations if you register the domain.
- Scroll through the list of trademarks to fully understand who the registered trademark holders are and what uses would be considered competing.
- Click the Accept button to continue registering the domain.

When there is a possible trademark infringement
Google Domains complies with the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) and the Uniform Rapid Suspension Policy (URS), which address disputes concerning domain names alleged to infringe the trademark rights of third parties.
If a trademark owner feels you have violated a trademark, the owner may:
- Contact you directly using the administrative contact in your contact information (WHOIS information). Manage your contact information on the "Registration Settings" tab.
- File a UDRP or URS complaint, requesting that your domain be cancelled, transferred, or suspended.
Google will honor the UDRP or URS decision and will contact you as appropriate under the terms of the decision and the terms of the registry who is responsible for the domain ending (or TLD).
If you believe your trademark is being infringed by content hosted by Google, please reference Google's online removal forms for more information on how to request takedown of the infringing materials. Otherwise, please resolve your dispute directly with the domain name owner through the UDRP, URS or otherwise. If you have a court order concerning a domain name, please use this form to submit the order.
