Connect a domain name to a website

To publish a website, blog, or online store, you must connect your domain with a service that hosts online content.
Google offers many tools and resources to create a website. Learn how to:

Connect to Google Sites or Blogger

Google Domains integrates easily with both Google Sites and Blogger. If you have a website or blog, you can connect your domain to either of these services.
  1. Open Google Domains.
  2. Sign in with the Google Account you used to buy your domain.
  3. Click the domain name you want to manage.
  4. Open the Menu Menu.
  5. Click Website and then Build website.
    • Important: You won’t build a new site. This just helps you connect to the correct service.
  6. Select the service you used to build your website or blog.
  7. Click Continue.
  8. Choose a service you want to connect to.

Google Sites

Important: These steps will only work with “@gmail.com” accounts. For Google Workspace accounts, make sure you have admin rights to log in to the Admin Console and perform the integration.
  1. Open Google Domains.
  2. Sign in with the Google Account you used to buy your domain.
  3. Click Use existing site.
  4. Enter the subdomain you want to use. This is the text to the left of the domain name. For example, in “www.example.com,” the subdomain is “www.”
  5. Under Google Sites, use the Down arrow to select the Google Site you’d like to connect.
  6. Optional: When you want to redirect users from “mydomain.com” to “www.mydomain.com,” select Also redirect [example.com] to [site name].
  7. Click Connect site.
Tip: Updates may take up to 48 hours to take effect. Your site then opens as the homepage when you go to your domain.
If you can’t connect your domain to your Google Site, contact our online support.

Blogger

  1. Open Google Domains.
  2. Sign in with the Google Account you used to buy your domain.
  3. Click Sign in to existing account.
  4. Sign in with the same account for both Blogger and Domains.
  5. Enter the subdomain you want to use. This is the text to the left of the domain name. For example, in “www.example.com,” the subdomain is “www.”
  6. Under Blog, use the Down arrow to select the blog you’d like to connect.
  7. Optional: To redirect users from “mydomain.com” to “www.mydomain.com,” select Also redirect [example.com] to [blog name].
  8. Click Connect blog.
Updates may take up to 48 hours to take effect. If you have questions about Blogger, go to the Blogger Help Center.

Connect to Shopify, Squarespace, Weebly, or Wix

Google Domains partners with many services that automatically connect your domain to a website.
  1. Open Google Domains.
  2. Sign in with the Google Account you used to buy your domain.
  3. Click the domain name you want to manage.
  4. Open the Menu Menu.
  5. Click Website and then Build website.
    • Important: You won’t build a new site. This just helps you connect to the correct service.
  6. Select the service you used to build your website.
    • If you don’t find the service you used, click See all partners and then select the correct service.
  7. Click Continue and then Sign in to existing account.
  8. Optional: If you created multiple sites or stores, select the one you want to connect to your domain.
  9. Click Connect Domain.
  10. After you’re asked if you want to connect your domain to the service, click Yes, connect.
Tip: Updates may take up to 48 hours to take effect. Contact your service for details.

Connect to another third-party service

On your computer, you can share your domain name servers or add resource records.
Important: If you used a different service to create your website, contact the service provider.
  1. Open Google Domains.
  2. Sign in with the Google Account you used to buy your domain.
  3. Click the domain name you want to manage.
    • If you don’t see your domain name, make sure you’re signed in with the account you used to register your domain.
  4. Open the Menu Menu.
  5. Click DNS.
