How add link to an image. When I click on Insert the Link option is grey.

I want to add a ckickable link to an image in a Google Doc. I click on the image in editing mode, then I click on Insert, but the Link option is greyed out.

If I select text instead of an image, the Link option is available.

Hi there,

Links for images are only available when an image is in inline mode. Click on the image and, in the menu that will appear below it, select the option on the left (inline). Please be aware, however, that if you change the mode for that image to another format, the link will no longer be available.

Hi, Peter,

You're very welcome. I agree that it is a bit strange to have that restriction based on an image's position. Please send your concerns about this directly to the Docs team by opening a Docs document and going to Help > Help Docs improve. The team is unable to respond to individual users, but they do review all feedback sent to them and use it to improve the app over time.

Thank you very much for explaining this. I tried it and it worked.

I do find it very strange that how the image is positioned on the page would have anything to do with whether one could insert a link.
