Google Forms requires a header of 800x200 in 2019 — which makes it incredibly blurry.

Google Forms requires a custom header to be at least 800x200 but using an image of that size cheapens the quality of the form because the header is ultimately incredibly blurry on any device larger than mobile, especially desktops. It's 2019, not 1995.

Uploading anything larger than the aforementioned dimensions just results in the system forcing you to crop it to 800x200.

Why?

It's completely obtuse and unprofessional. Is there any kind of workaround or is Google just this lapse in their judgement?

Hi,

I have not experienced that, personally. Might you be able to share screenshots of what you are seeing there, please - along with a link to the image itself, perhaps?

Hi Mike, I'm having this same problem.  https://forms.gle/JY9ExwmhBkNvBsJt6 The banner image is 1600 x 400 but it looks super blurry. I've attached the banner image file so you can see that it didn't start out blurry -- it only appear that way after I upload it to the form header.

It is completely frustrating.  I would love to hear a solid response as it looks like many people have asked about this, but there has been no explanation providing specs that work to add an attractive header to the top of a google form without your image getting distorted, blurred or oddly placed within the header framework.

Honestly, you should be able to add a custom header, according to specs, and get what you expect!

Hi guys,

thx to SpiritSoul:

"Create a new 2400 x 600 px image for background at 300 pxi and save as .png ".

Worked for me

This is close to the most frustrating thing I've ever done.... I've now edited and uploaded a new pic 11 times. Why can't you edit the crop once it's there.... and why can't they just tell us the viewable area? I'm done with it, and it still looks bad. Hopefully the client doesn't notice... :-(

I tried the 800x200 PNG, and it's forcing me to crop the image in a square. What?! It's a rectangular shape on the form, so why a square? Also, if I select one of the provided images under Themes, the same pixelation happens. It's like there's something wrong in the code for all form headers, even for the images they provide. Help!

Same problem here with the header, size 800X200 PNG but the crop /viewable area is a square.
Please Help!

Same here. What a waste of time. I can move the selection square, which doesn't help, but the header is full width, not square. Do I have to change templates? I'm cool with that if I could figure out how. I'm hoping for a quick resolution (no pun intended)

Everyone, make sure you save your canvas at 300 pxi.
The image of the template is only 72. That's why it's blurry.

The crop is not a square, make sure you pull horizontally and not diagonally, because once you hit the top, it won't move. I agree. This is a pain.
