How can you draw on a google word document, as in add a signature, circle, and check things off?

I cant find a single tool that lets me free draw on a document

Hi, Sarina,
 
To draw or write something freehand in Docs, you would need to go to Insert > Drawing > New. You can then select the scribble tool (in the drop-down line menu to the right of the pointer/arrow tool). When you're done, press the blue "Save and Close" button to place the drawing in your document. You can move it where you need to, click on it in your document, and select "Wrap text" (the middle icon) from the menu below it. Then drag where you want it (such as above a signature line).
