Hi there,

There isn't any way at this time to block people from sharing documents with you. Anyone who has your email address can share a file with you. If you have editing permission, you can remove yourself from the share or you can simply ask the individuals to stop sending files to you.

One more thing ...

If you don't know these people and the files are inappropriate, you can report them to Google. To report a violation: On a computer, go to drive.google.com. Right-click the file you want to report and click Report abuse. Choose the type of abuse found in the file.

You can read more about reporting abusive content in this article from the Google Help Center: Report a violation.

This is ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! There is no way to block people from sending you offensive material via Drive? The option to impose a total sharing blockade on ones account and have a whitelist to allow specific people to share with you seems like such an obvious feature in 2019. There must be some money making marketing angle the prevents Google from implementing such  a feature because I can think of no legitimate reason to NOT have such a feature. I have been receiving obnoxious files that contain porn and other BS. I may just have to shut down Drive is Google does not take this problem seriously. Again... 2019!!!

The problem is not just that you can't block these people, yet, you can't even report the abuse like "Jo" is saying. I have tried in many occasions to report the abuse and I keep getting an error page. This needs to be fixed ASAP!

That's absolutely ridiculous that Google doesn't have the option to block any e-mail address that I don't want to receive any file anymore. So Jo you are saying that Google is not able to protect our privacy when we need it. Totally ridiculous! You need to fix this issue. What if the person is nuts and does not stop sending me materials that are abusive. What should I do, Call the police, to manage your business? totally outrageous!

Ermira, the help communities are managed by volunteer product users (this is a peer-to-peer message board), not Google employees. We can offer assistance with troubleshooting and how-to questions, but we have no control over product improvements or general issues/complaints.

You can submit your concerns directly to the Drive team by following these steps:
  1. Go to Google Drive (drive.google.com).
  2. Click on the question mark in a circle at the top right of the page (to the left of the gear icon).
  3. Go to "Send feedback" and enter your feedback.
Although the product team is unable to respond to individual users directly, they review this feedback regularly and use it to help improve the product over time. Google doesn't check the help forums for user feedback, so it's important that you use the in-product tool. The more users who have this complaint, the more likely it is the team will make a change.

Same thing for me! I need someone to be blocked off of my device and there isn't ANY way to do that? And I thought that something would be coming out like that soon! I mean there are people who do that just to (pardon my language) piss you off! I can't have these people on my drive and have them keep sending things to me! I think a lot of people can agree that we NEED something like that! Eventually people will stop WANTING to use this kind of stuff if this keeps going. People will start to feel uncomfortable because people keep sending bad things and they can't block those people! So PLEASE google industries, please make that happen. I think we would ALL appreciate it!

Morgan, as I noted above, the help communities are managed by volunteer product users, not Google employees (this is a peer-to-peer help forum). We can answer users questions and help with troubleshooting certain problems, but we have no control over or input into how Google manages Docs/Drive. Please submit your concerns about this directly to the Docs team by following the instructions I provided earlier in this thread.
